Five weeks of arts activities for young people at The Tramshed, Woolwich.

Twistov: Promenade Theatre with Teatro Vivo and Dash Arts

Monday 24th July to Friday 28th July 2017 (5 day course)

Open to all aged 18-30 (part of Progression): 10am-6pm

Work with Teatro Vivo and Dash Arts to help develop the script for their new show Twistov, which premieres later this year in Shoreditch. Inspired by Dickens’ Oliver Twist, the production explores themes of migration and the diversity of London’s communities. We are looking for young actors, writers, directors and production assistants to take part in this development week alongside a company of professionals.

Masterclass with the Deaf & Hearing Ensemble

Saturday 29th July 2017 (1 day masterclass)

Open to all aged 16-30 (accessible for both deaf and hearing participants): 10am-4.30pm

A full day workshop with The DH Ensemble for D/deaf and hearing young people.  The workshop will cover: acting techniques including Viewpoints; physical improvisation; play theory and non-verbal communication; devising theatre in a group; creating autobiographical theatre (performances based on real life experiences). No professional acting experience necessary. Professional actors or actors in training are also welcome.

Reach Theatre Company Performance Project

Monday 31st July to Friday 4th August 2017 (5 day course)

Open to all aged 18-30 with learning and physical disabilities: 11:30-3pm

Join Reach Theatre Company (for adults with SEND) this summer on their exciting Performance Project. Working alongside professional directors, participants will be supported to create their own small scale performance either on their own or in a small group. Explore all areas of the process from coming up with your initial idea to improvising, devising and performing your final piece.

Parkour & Free Running with Parkour Dance Academy

Monday 7th to Friday 11th August 2017 (5 day course)

For ages 10-13 years: 11-1pm | ages 12-18 years: 1:30-3:30pm

Want to try a new sport to challenge your strength, fitness, balance and coordination? Then join our Parkour & Free Running workshop this summer! Run, climb, roll and jump over obstacles in this acrobatic and adrenaline filled course. This programme is taught by an experienced Parkour athlete who will help you to gradually build your confidence and courage throughout the week.

For ages 14-19: 3-6pm

Are you a young musician who is looking for a space to develop your collaborative music skills? Want to jam and improvise alongside other musicians? Whether you read music or are completely self-taught, our professional tutor and musician will support you to collaborate with your peers and gain invaluable experience of the music industry.

Email Marvin@glypt.co.uk to receive more information about GLYPT’s new Into Music programme, supporting young artists both creatively and professionally, nurturing ambition and developing insight into the music industry. The project will provide opportunities for participants to produce their own events, develop their own performance skills and see live world music in the local area.

With regular open mic events and 10 week courses to learn the ins and outs of putting on a music event, alongside opportunities to connect with professional artists and local events such as Woolwich Carnival, Into Music will be the place to take your passion for music further.

Are you an aspiring young actor or director who is ready to take on the challenge of creating an original piece of theatre in just five days? Work alongside an experienced professional director who will lead practical skills workshops to guide you throughout the week as you take on GLYPT’s Five Day Theatre Challenge!

Carnival Sounds with TARU Arts

Monday 14th to Friday 18th August 2017 (5 day course)

For ages 10-14: 11am-12:30pm

Come and get a flavour of what it’s like to be part of a carnival group. Learn the basics of Brazilian Samba drumming techniques and perform as a drum ensemble. If you like what you do you will have the opportunity to get involved in Woolwich Carnival 2017 and take your new found carnival skills to the streets of Woolwich!
